물의 시종(始終)

사람들아!

흐르는 물에서 삶을 배워라.

돌고 도는 것이 인연이고

잘남도 못남도 의미가 없으며

먼저 감도 나중 옴도 부질없음을

태초부터 그네들은 잘 알고 있었네!

옹달샘아 너는

흘러 흘러서 어디로 가느냐?

막히면 돌아가다 실개천이 되고

강에서 만나 바다로 가는구나

돌아가지 못하고 뚫리지 못하는

그들 한데 모여서 고인 물 되지만

고이면 고인대로 온갖 미물 다 키우다

마침내 증발하여 하늘로 올라가네!

가뭄으로 마른 초목 사경에서 헤맬 때

하늘에서 만난 그들 구름이 되어서

목마른 대지에 단비를 내려주네!

사람들아!

흐르는 물에서는

서두르지도 거역하지도 않는

지혜와 겸손을 배우고

고인 물에서도

참고 기다리며 환경에 순응하는

인내를 배워라.

learn life of water.

circulation and spin is a bond,

good and bad is meaningless, and

early gone and late coming is useless,

they were well-known from the beginning.

A small well,

where to flow?

when you are blocked, while making a detour,

you become a streamlet, meet in the river and enter the ocean.

No matter how they, who are not able to go around and punch,

become a puddle,

they raise all kinds of small and insignificant creature as collected,

finally they evaporate then go to the sky!

When dried trees and grass hover between life and death due to drought,

after they who met in the sky become the cloud,

bring down welcome rain to the thirsty earth!

Public!

emulate wisdom and modesty,

which do not make haste and disobey

from streaming water.

And take lessons in patience

which can endure life and adapt environment

from a collected water as well.
